Nittany Knits

The dog days of summer can only mean one thing- it must be time for The Howard Count Fair. We went off to 'Ride All Day' at the fairground yesterday in the heat, and survived 9 hours of dusty, animal scented fun.

I did ditch the kids long enough to check out a bunch of 4-H and adult entries for the fair. There were a lot fewer entries than last year for knitted items, yet spinning had more. Interesting trend. Last year, the 4-h groups were knitting up a storm, and this year I had to search for the few that were there. All entries were fun fur or chunky blends that are no longer popular in yarn stores, so perhaps this has effected youth knitting. The adult entries were down as well. The few who did enter items appeared to enter a lot of pieces. Perhaps other knitters are experiencing what I am this year. All our finished items have been taken from us this year. Perhaps everyone in Howard County is knitting, we just can't enter items that are no longer ours. Hummmmm. I might not be alone. Knitting Thieves are to blame!

I'm off to reprint my squid hat instructions. They have been misplaced/taken as well! Those Knitting Thieves will stop at nothing.

Happy Knitting and Spinning!

  • I want to spend time at the fair kidless maybe before the hub leaves we can seek off to an amusement park alone.
