A huge Thank You goes out to javajem for putting this blog together to get the word out about the Kni-A-Thon. Anyone who knows me knows that this whole blogging thing is far beyond my capabilities on the computer. Not only that, how can you all be knitting if you are blogging????????????????? Someone needs to teach me how you knit and type at the same time. Javajem designed this blog spot and also gave me a quick crash course in how to post the info to you all. Thanks so much for your time and patience, without you- far less people would be donating their hand made items for charity!!!!!!

Door Prizes!!!!! Let's get down to the information everyone wants to know about. When you bring in your completed knit or crochet items to the Lakeside Cafe between 10am and 3pm you will receive a raffle ticket. At 3pm we will begin drawing raffle tickets to win one of many door prizes. You do not have to be present to win! So what are these door prizes that have been donated by local yarn stores and businesses????????? * There are 2 $15 gift certificates from Clover Hill Yarn Shop in Catonsville * A $20 gift certificate from Le Gormet Chef in the Columbia Mall * One 2lbs. bag of regular and one 2 lbs. bag of decaf coffee from The Lakeside Cafe (Home of the first annual Knit-A-Thon) *An Elizabeth Austin zippered needle case valued at $32 from the Celtic Knot Yarn Shop in Ellicott City * Ten balls of Dreambaby DK Plymoth yarn valued at $4/skein from the Celtic Knot Yarn Shop * A bread basket from the Great Harvest Bread Co. in Columbia *A Fiber Fest scarf kit valued at $35 from All About Yarn in Columbia * A set of handmade stichmarkers by Sheila and more door prizes are arriving daily!!! Thank You to all businesses for showing their support by hanging flyers in their businesses and donating items for door prizes. Anyone who knows of area businesses who will hang our information for all knitters and crocheters to see- please let me know! Without these flyers, we will have more prizes than donated items for the charities. Thank You to all.

How do I have all of this extra time to blog about the Knit-A-Thon? Shouldn't I be knitting on this lovely fall evening? Two words..... Sock Wars!!!!! My pair has already assasinated it's target, and I am waiting to find the next target on down the line. So while I await my next target, I am finishing a felted purse that will be a Christmas present. The only part of the purse left to make are the handles made out of i-cord. I'm not a fan of the mindless i-cord, so instead I am blogging about the Knit-A-Thon. The next best thing to knitting, I have discovered, is talking about knitting.

Team Knitting!
This picture was taken at the 2005 Knit Out in Washington DC, where we first experienced Team Knitting. The center part of this blanket we knit ahead of the event and the stiches around it were picked up with 4 different circular needles. Each knitter is knitting with the needles of two different circular needles, taking the stiches from one circular to another. Round and round you knit. When you are done, the next knitter takes your spot and the blanket keeps growing. To try YOUR hand at team knitting, come down to the first annual Knit-A-Thon in Columbia, MD on October 14 from 10am- 3pm!
See you there!

This is Mr. Mike. He is the owner of the Lakeside Cafe, and the kind man who has opened his his doors to the first annual Knit-A-Thon. It takes a special man to willingly invite tons and tons of knitters into his place of business, but then again- this is a special man!!!! Mr. Mike is not just smiling for the camera, Mr. Mike looks like this all the time!

Where is the Lakeside Cafe, home of the first annual Knit-A-Thon?????? This is the home of the Thursday night Sit 'N Knit that we call K1P2. Now it is also where everyone who is anyone will be on October 14th (that is execpt for really cool people who are in New Mexico watching hot air balloons).

How do you get to this great place. Glad you asked.
