Vogue Knitting's 25th Anniversary issue hit my mailbox today and guess what???????

The Fall Forecast 2007 section on page 110 announces that Huge and Gigantic sweaters are very very fashionable this fall. Who just happens to have made a horrible mistake in gauge for her Knitting Olympics sweater? Me, that's who. Could this beast of a sweater now be the height of fashion? Why yes, yes it could.

This could be the first time since the 80's that I will have a trendy article of clothing for the fall. Yeah me!

Once again, this proves that having to knit a swatch for a sweater is more of a guideline than a steadfast rule.

I finally did the finishing for my daughter's shrug from 'Lace Style'. At first I thought she didn't like it because she kept picking at it while she was staring at herself in the mirror, but then she asked if it would be good to wear it on her first day of middle school. WOW! That is a pretty important piece of clothing. Much rides on these fashion decisions if I remember correctly.

With this type of encouragement, I could be flattered into making the 'Retro Redux Shrug' from the same book for her as well! Not to mention the legwarmers in her new school colors.

Poor boy child. All he's ever gotten is a camo colored hat.

If only I didn't have to sleep. Then I could knit more and more and more. And that work thing could go to!

Happy Knitting and... hey, who's got time to spin with back to school knitting!

Thinking back on the Harry Potter weekend, it was really a knitting weekend without knitting. What I mean by this is that knitters and knits were everywhere!

The movie was chock full of handknits, as usual. Luna Lovegood wore a great capelet that I must make. Also, we sat next to a knitter from Virgina.

The midnight madness book release had knitters all over the bookstore! I personally was too tired to knit, but plenty of others were not. Socks were the most spotted work in progress.

I also got a copy of 'Charmed Knits' from the library and can't wait to make 'Hermione's Cable and Bobble Hat'.

I'm thinking of starting to read the book again, but then I'll never get any knitting done.

Forgive my lack of blogging, I have been in a Harry Potter induced coma. Friday night was our trip to Chantilly, VA to see the latest movie in 3-D IMAX. From there we went to the midnight madness book launch, and I started reading around 1:00 am. Since I had to work all day Saturday, there was actual caffine involved in getting me through the work day. I know- me and caffine? It was necessary!

After work on Saturday, Large Marge convinced me to go out to a bar with her since her hubby and our kids had gone camping together for the weekend. She had finished the book. I took the book with me and proceeded to ignore anything and everything around me while I read and enjoyed my beer. She knit. Surprisingly enough, no one hit on us. Hummmmm.

Sunday brought an all day reading marathon so that I could turn my computer, TV, and radio back on, and start reading my newspaper again. I was hermetically sealed in, so that NO ONE could ruin the ending for me. Good thing I finished it, because it was the first thing I read in todays paper!

All this means that there is no knitting to report on. I think I'm going to ditch my current project and whip me up that Dark Mark Illusion scarf from Storm Moon! It's that or my long awaited third year scarf. Either way, I've got to get me Harry Potter knitting in.

Hello from Pittsburgh!!!!!!!

First news is that the 'Shaun the Sheep' big premiere on Sunday night was a whooping 5 minutes long! A five minute TV show? It was a cute 5 minutes, but still!

Also on Sunday, we attended the Chicago cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirate Stitch 'n Pitch. It was so blazing hot I could barely even look at fiber. Also, the festivities were better supported at the Washington Nationals game. No TNNA representatives were in Pittsburgh, and I think that may have been the difference. The Pittsburgh game happened to have knitters, while the Nationals game was all about the knitters.

I did manage to procure some handpainted Pittsburgh Pirate sock yarn this past weekend. Yeah me. Let's see if I can manage one more yarn store visit before I leave the 'Burgh.

Looking forward to this Thursday's Sit 'N Knit. See you there!

Large Marge proves why she has a special place in our lives. Her first Thursday night back from Florida, and she spent it watching my son's sport camp instead of going to K1P2 sit 'n knit. Now THAT'S a trooper!!!! Thanks Marge.

The kids and I are heading out for the Pittsburgh Stitch 'n Pitch this weekend. Six knitting muggles will be coming with me to the game. They promise to behave, but we all know better.

I have been enjoying a stash appreciation summer so far, with no new skeins of yarn finding their way into my house. That could come to an end this weekend since I always bring a ball of sock yarn home with me from a trip. And I was doing so well!

Welcome Back To Maryland Large Marge!!!!!

Today is the day that Large Marge gets to come home after 5 weeks of bonding with her family in Florida. Yes, there will bre alcohol involved!

Great fiber related news. I managed to inflict pain upon myself only twice last night while I attempted needle felting for the first time. Something tells me that I should stick to knitting and spinning.

Here's hoping I get a second purse for my mother finished tonight so that I can get on with my own knitting needs.

Just when I thought we had found the perfect combination...

Yesterday we broke out the awesome birthday presents that my kids got from Large Marge's husband, Bighead. It's a fishing rod that looks like a rocket launcher. It really is great because it takes away the major issue that all kids (and I) have with casting a fishing line without getting it tangled. We set off for Solomon's Island with a picnic lunch and some money for blood worms. Blood worms, by the way, are way gross. I have a high tolerance for gross. These things are gross.

So while we were fishing, and not catching anything, I had a ton of time to knit. What a great day. Knitting and fishing. Perfect!

It was so great that I decided to try it again today. We had lots of blood worms left over from not catching anything the day before, and the kids were excited to go fishing again. Great. Off we went to a local lake. Here's where we get into trouble.

Apparently, our local fish find the blood worms very yummy and they all wanted to be caught by us today. I could handle the blood worms, as gross as they were, but getting the fish our the hooks seem to be beyond even myself. This has never been an issue for my family before since we never catch anything when we go fishing. Now that we have these great new fishing poles, how do we get the darn fish off????????? There are very few days when I wish we had a guy around the house. Today was one of those days!

So much for knitting and fishing. Besides, the projects have to be felted with all the gunk around the fiber.
